Doctoral university studies constitute the 3rd cycle of university studies, centered on research-based learning and the purpose of which is the development of scientific and/or applied research skills. The doctoral study programmes in Business Administration offered by the Doctoral School of Business Administration II are of two types: scientific doctorate and professional doctorate.

Scientific (academic) doctorate

The purpose of the scientific (academic) doctorate is to produce original, internationally relevant scientific knowledge, based on scientific methods, forming the basis for a professional career in higher education and research.

Professional (industrial) doctorate

The purpose of the professional (industrial) doctorate is to produce original knowledge, using scientific methods, systematic reflection and/or applied research on industry topics of practical importance and which constitutes a basis for a professional career in higher education and in research, in the targeted fields.

The ultimate goal of the doctoral study programme is to elaborate the doctoral thesis and to develop the professional and transversal skills included in the National Register of Higher Education Qualifications at the doctoral study level.

The doctoral study programmes in Business Administration offered by the Doctoral School of Business Administration II extend on four academic years. This involves the participation of the doctoral student in an advanced training programme, participation in one or more scientific projects established by the doctoral supervisor, participation in scientific seminars and international conferences, dissemination of the research results through high-quality publications, participation in Erasmus+ mobilities etc. The doctoral study programme is carried out under the guidance of the doctoral supervisor and of the guidance and academic integrity committee. It can be carried out within the Doctoral School of Business Administration II, in the FABIZ research centre IDEAS or other research entities of the University and its partners.

The minimum requirements for completing the doctoral study program in Business Administration include:

  • Completion of the advanced training programme (two common courses offered by the Council for Doctoral Studies – CSUD and two courses offered by the Doctoral School of Business Administration II).
  • Submission and defence, at the end of each year of study, of a progress report that must include the results of own scientific research.
  • Annual participation in the scientific seminars organized within the Doctoral School of Business Administration II, materialized in the presentation and/or publications of working papers.
  • Participation in the international conference of FABIZ, namely International Conference on Business Excellence – ICBE.
  • Complying with the minimum criteria for the public defence of the doctoral thesis (these are established by the Council for Doctoral Studies).
